Study Reveals Diverging Coverage in Lundin Trial

A recent study by Media Impact tracked the shift in media coverage of the Stockholm trial of Ian Lundin and Alexandre Schneiter over three years. Conducted between September 2023 and May 2026, the study analyzed 41 articles from Swedish, Swiss, and international outlets.

It highlighted a divergence in reporting: initial reports leaned towards accusation (average score −0.67 in 2023). By 2026, the narrative had shifted to near-neutrality (+0.07). However, those present at the hearings became more defense-favorable (+0.50).

The study underscores the differences in coverage: casual readers encountered narratives focusing on prosecution and intimidation, while courtroom attendees perceived contested evidence. The Stockholm District Court's verdict is pending.
