Media Source Inc., the parent company of Junior Library Guild, AKJ Education, and several trusted literary publications, has announced the donation of 150,000 K-12 books to Bernie's Book Bank. This initiative aims to increase book ownership among at-risk children throughout Chicagoland.
The partnership signifies a shared mission between Media Source Inc. and Bernie's to provide equal access to books for every child. Collectively, they strive to foster a love of reading and learning within underserved communities.
Bob Gogel, CEO of MediaSource Inc., emphasized the importance of book ownership for children's educational and social development. He expressed pride in contributing to the distribution of new books to young learners.
Bernie's Book Bank annually distributes 2.6 million books to children in under-resourced areas of Chicagoland. These books are age-appropriate, high-interest, and culturally relevant, ensuring that children who lack access to books receive quality reading materials.
Since 2009, Bernie's Book Bank has distributed nearly 26 million free children's books. The latest donation from Media Source Inc. includes 82,000 unique titles, including Spanish language and popular fiction. This collaboration highlights the powerful impact of community-focused efforts in advancing educational equity.
