55th Anniversary of Ping-Pong Diplomacy Celebrated in Beijing

A grand event was held in Beijing to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the China-US Ping-Pong Diplomacy. Organized at the Capital Indoor Stadium, the event attracted over 500 attendees including officials, international delegates, and youth representatives from both nations. The gathering was hosted by China's General Administration of Sport, China Media Group (CMG), and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

CMG President Shen Haixiong expressed a commitment to fostering China-US relations through cooperation and exchanges. Highlighting the launch of a new Five-Year Plan, Shen emphasized CMG's dedication to continuing the legacy of Ping-Pong Diplomacy. Jan Carol Berris, from the National Committee on United States-China Relations, hoped for strengthened bilateral ties.

Petra Erika Gummesson Soerling of the International Table Tennis Federation praised the historical significance of Ping-Pong Diplomacy in table tennis history. A documentary, "The Silver Ball: A Journey Beyond," premiered at the event, while a China-US youth sports exchange for 2026 was also announced.
