MEDICLIN announces preliminary figures for fiscal year 2023

MEDICLIN presented its preliminary results for the 2023 financial year, reporting a 3.6% increase in its group turnover to reach 730.1 million euros. However, the group's operating profit decreased to 12.7 million euros, down 6.8 million compared to the previous year, due to a one-off effect attributed to the impairment of goodwill of three establishments in the acute segment, negatively affecting profits by 33.1 million euros.

Despite the challenges, the company recorded at least 80% occupancy across all segments each quarter, approaching pre-coronavirus pandemic levels. This operational performance inspires confidence for the year 2024, according to Tino Fritz, CFO of MEDICLIN.

The post-acute segment saw an increase in sales of 4.6% to 451.2 million euros, while the acute segment increased slightly by 0.5% to 254.0 million euros, although its operating income is significantly impacted by impairment losses. The nursing sector also saw growth, from €18.7 million in 2022 to €21.3 million in 2023.

The number of employees remained stable with an average of 7,016 full-time equivalents, and gross investments increased, reaching 38.8 million euros in 2023. These investments are seen as a commitment to the future of the group.
