MPC Capital Doubles Its Stake in MPC Container Ships

MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Capital AG, an investment manager based in Hamburg, has announced a significant increase in its shareholding in MPC Container Ships ASA, moving from approximately 7% to 14%. This strategic investment, valued at roughly EUR 34 million, was facilitated through MPC CSI GmbH, a joint venture originally established for the IPO of MPCC. The increased stake now grants MPC Capital about 14% ownership in MPCC, with MPC CSI holding an overall 17%.

MPCC, a leader in the container shipping sector with a fleet of 62 vessels, reported a robust financial performance for the 2023 fiscal year, with operating revenues of USD 711 million and a promising dividend yield of 43%. This acquisition is expected to enhance MPC Capital's earnings before taxes for 2024, surpassing the previously forecasted high level of EUR 19.3 million, while maintaining its consolidated revenue predictions unchanged.

The transaction underscores MPC Capital's strategic focus on MPCC, reflecting the continued growth and strategic significance of MPCC in the shipping industry. Additionally, MPCC’s attractive dividend policy and positive medium-term outlook for the market segment of smaller container ships further bolster MPC Capital’s investment rationale.
