National Campaign to Reduce Youth Violence Launched by YPD Youth Conference

Moberly, MO / ACCESSWIRE / May 21, 2024 / In response to rising youth violence, the YPD Youth Conference announced a national campaign to address the issue. The initiative aims to curb violence both in and out of schools, making education accessible for teenagers and young adults.

The CDC reports that homicide is the third leading cause of death for individuals aged 10-24. For non-Hispanic Black or African American youth, it is the leading cause. Daily, emergency departments handle over 800 cases of youth assault-related injuries. In 2020, the economic burden of youth violence, excluding criminal justice costs, was estimated at $122 billion annually.

The conference themed "Good Education is the Key to Success" will be held on July 13, 2024, both in-person and via livestream. The objectives are to promote college education, conflict resolution without violence, and rejection of drugs, crimes, and bullying, encouraging youth to become productive members of society.

The event is organized by Grant Lovell and Bethel AME Churches and will be hosted in Moberly, MO. For more details, visit their website.
