Neoen Clinches 119 MWp in French Solar Projects, Solidifying Market Leadership

Neoen, the renowned renewable energy developer, has been awarded seven ground-mounted solar projects totaling 119 MWp by the French Energy Regulation Commission (CRE). This latest achievement in the government's PPE2 call for tenders sees Neoen confirm its position as the preeminent independent renewable energy producer in France. Winning a substantial share of the tender, Neoen's capacity now stands at 479 MWp over the last two years, marking it as the top awardee.

In collaboration with local stakeholders and authorities across Grand Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Occitanie, Neoen has showcased its capacity to manage a diverse portfolio of projects nationwide. These initiatives are projected to not only support local economies but also generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities, with construction activities spanning from 2024 to 2028 by French EPC specialists.

One noteworthy project, Lapenne (21 MWp) in Ariège, is set to pioneer solar agrivoltaics in the region. This innovative approach combines sheep farming with solar energy production, ensuring a sustainable revenue source for local farmers, with French farming institute IDELE overseeing the progress.

Neoen's success reflects its ambition to drive France's decarbonization efforts forward, according to Guillaume Decaen, Neoen's French Development Director. Xavier Barbaro, Neoen's CEO, reiterates the company's dedication to developing competitive and shareholder-value-oriented projects, thereby reinforcing Neoen's stature as France’s leading independent renewable energy producer.
