New York Sephardic Jewish Film Festival Celebrates with Honors and Performances
The American Sephardi Federation will host its 26th New York Sephardic Jewish Film Festival from June 2-9, 2024, at the Center for Jewish History in Chelsea. The festival opens with The Pomegranates Awards Ceremony, recognizing Algerian-French director Alexandre Arcady, Holocaust survivor Stella Levi, and American actor/director John Turturro.
Opening Night features a performance by French-Sephardi star Enrico Macias. Moroccan-Israeli actress Reymonde Amsellem will receive the Ronit Elkabetz Pomegranate Award for Acting on June 8.
Exclusive screenings include MAHJONG & MAHASHAS and KING OF SEPHARDIM. Alexandre Arcady's THE BLOND BOY FROM THE CASBAH will have its North American premiere on June 3.
The festival aims to showcase the diversity and depth of Sephardic culture. Highlights include events with Stella Levi and special screenings of John Turturro's films SECRET PASSAGE and FADING GIGOLO.
