Next Gen Diagnostics Appoints Dr. Linoj Samuel to Scientific Advisory Board

WEST PALM BEACH, FL / ACCESSWIRE / June 7, 2024 / Next Gen Diagnostics (NGD) has announced that Dr. Linoj Samuel, Division Head of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory for Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan, has joined NGD's Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Samuel is a noted leader in clinical microbiology best practices and the current Chair of the American Society for Microbiology Clinical Microbiology and Public Health Committee.

"For years Linoj has been a valued partner in the development of clinical technologies, and it is a pleasure to welcome him to NGD's Scientific Advisory Board," said Dr. Paul A. Rhodes, founder and CEO of NGD. "His insights and guidance into clinical evaluation will be uniquely valuable as we integrate automated WGS and bioinformatic results into patient care."

NGD has developed highly accurate systems for determining resistance in Gram-negative bacteria from WGS, including resistance to cefepime in E. coli, with higher accuracy than current standard in vitro methods. This has been validated by recent studies, including partnerships demonstrating the use of WGS in neonatal intensive care wards to detect bacterial transmission.

"WGS is increasingly central to clinical infectious disease practice and hospital infection prevention," said Dr. Samuel. "I look forward to contributing my clinical and operational experience to NGD’s services, which leverage the automation of sequencing and bioinformatics for practical hospital applications."
