Nordex Group Installs World's First N175/6.X Turbine in Germany
Hamburg, 16 July 2024. On July 12th, the Nordex Group installed the world's first N175/6.X turbine at the Bürgerwindpark Janneby in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. With a rotor swept area of 24,053 square metres and a nominal capacity of up to 6.8 MW, it is the most powerful Nordex turbine for medium and light wind sites.
The turbine's unique feature is its single-piece, approximately 86-metre-long rotor blade. The rotor diameter of 175 metres and new blade design contribute significantly to high performance, especially in light wind conditions.
"The installation of the first N175/6.X is a milestone for Nordex," said José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group. Extensive tests will follow in the upcoming months to validate the turbine's performance and mechanical load compliance for IEC type certification.
A second N175/6.X will be installed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in late autumn 2024, featuring a hybrid tower with a hub height of 179 metres, the tallest in the Nordex portfolio.
