Nordex Group Receives DIBt Type Approval for Innovative 179-Metre Hybrid Tower

The Nordex Group has been awarded the DIBt type approval by TÜV SÜD for a groundbreaking 179-metre hybrid tower, specifically developed for the N175/6.X turbine. This certification, crucial for obtaining building permits in Germany, marks a significant advancement for the project.

Set to enhance the efficiency of the Nordex Group’s plan to install two of its Delta4000 series turbines in Germany, the approved hybrid tower combines concrete and steel. It follows the earlier certification of a 112-metre tubular steel tower variant for the same turbine type.

With this approval, completed projects can leverage the larger rotor diameter and more than 6 MW capacity of the N175/6.X turbine. This combination is especially beneficial for low-wind sites far from the coast, promising to boost energy production significantly.

According to Stephan Mayer of TÜV SÜD, the type approval confirms the hybrid tower’s compliance with stringent safety and reliability standards vital for innovative wind energy developments. The Nordex Group’s seasoned experience in concrete tower technology underpins the new hybrid tower's design, promising enhanced performance based on a legacy of over 2,500 successful installations.
