Nordex Group Secures 66 MW Wind Farm Order in Scotland
Hamburg, 2 October 2024. The Nordex Group has received an order for 66 MW from Scotland. The company will supply twelve N149/5.X turbines for a new onshore wind farm for Capital Dynamics, a global private asset management firm. The order includes a 30-year Premium Service contract for the turbines.
The Douglas West Extension project is located 40 km southeast of Glasgow in South Lanarkshire. The site benefits from continuous wind conditions, enabling high turbine utilization. This project is part of a larger cluster with several existing and approved wind farms nearby.
The Nordex Group plans to supply and install the turbines from summer 2025. The turbines will be mounted on tubular steel towers with a hub height of 125 meters, meeting the total construction height of 200 meters per unit.
Jason Welch, Managing Director UK & Ireland of the Nordex Group, stated: “We are honored to deliver highly efficient turbines for the Douglas West Extension project. This project will help reduce energy bills and increase the UK's energy independence and security.”
