Olympus Expands Innovation Capabilities with New R&D Center in Hyderabad, India
Tokyo, Japan, June 12, 2024 - Olympus Corporation, a leading MedTech company, has announced the establishment of an R&D Offshore Development Center (ODC) in Hyderabad, India. This strategic move follows an agreement with HCLTech to diversify Olympus' innovation efforts.
The new ODC aims to leverage global R&D talents and resources in Hyderabad, known as India’s MedTech hub. This initiative aligns with Olympus' ongoing expansion in India, which began with the formation of Olympus Medical Systems India Private Limited in 2009.
Additionally, Olympus plans to open an in-house R&D center and collaborate with AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad. This partnership aims to develop innovative medical solutions, enhancing Olympus’ capability to address evolving patient needs.
Andre Roggan, Chief Technology Officer at Olympus, expressed confidence in the collaboration with HCLTech, highlighting their long-standing partnership in core engineering and R&D services.
Mr. D. Sridhar Babu, Minister of Information Technology of Telangana, welcomed Olympus' investment, emphasizing Hyderabad's potential as a global hub for medical device innovation.
