OPPO and HKPolyU Strengthen AI Imaging Collaboration
Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have renewed their collaborative agreement to advance AI imaging technology. The partnership, initiated in 2022, seeks to foster innovation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The newly upgraded "PolyU-OPPO Joint Innovation Research Centre" will focus on enhancing imaging algorithms with an investment of at least RMB 30 million over five years.
The agreement was signed on 1 November by Prof. Christopher Chao of PolyU and Mr. Zheng Qin from OPPO. The collaboration has already seen the development of technologies such as AI super-resolution and HDR imaging for OPPO products. Moving forward, the focus will be on generative model-based image restoration and advanced editing technologies.
This partnership will contribute to AI advancements and talent development, coinciding with PolyU's upcoming Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences in 2025. Both parties are dedicated to furthering technological innovation and industry-academic cooperation in AI imaging.
