Oregon Sending Highest Number of American Tourists to Summer Olympics per Capita

Nearly 13% of American tourists in Paris during the opening week of the Summer Olympics are from Oregon, a state that comprises only 1.3% of the U.S. population. This finding is based on a new data analysis from Start.io.

The analysis covered over 50,000 American tourists in Paris from July 18 to July 28, 2024, and revealed that despite Oregon's small population of 4.23 million, its residents are the most represented per capita among U.S. tourists attending the Games.

Other states with a high per capita presence in Paris include Washington, New Jersey, California, and New York. In contrast, states like Texas, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, and Ohio have sent fewer tourists than expected.

The influx of tourists has significantly increased Paris's population, with tourists now making up about 33% of the city's population during the Olympics.
