Ottobock Launches Paralympic Initiative: ‘The Unofficial Discipline’

As the Paralympic Games unfold in Paris, Ottobock, with support from the International Paralympic Committee, introduces a symbolic initiative called ‘The Unofficial Discipline.’ This initiative highlights the daily hurdles faced by people with disabilities, involving broken elevators, staircases, and societal prejudices. Ottobock aims to foster awareness and conversation around these challenges, encouraging collective efforts to dismantle such barriers.

The campaign will feature slogans on billboards and video projections during the Games, strategically placed in inaccessible areas to draw attention. Over 20 Paralympic athletes and 50 brand ambassadors will bring the initiative to life through social media, using the hashtag #UnofficialDiscipline to share their daily obstacles and inspire others to join the conversation.

Key Paralympians sharing their experiences include Davide Morana, Samantha Kinghorn, Ezra Frech, Léon Schäfer, Desirée Vila Bargiela, and Alessandro Ossola. Each athlete details unique daily barriers, from basic mobility issues to challenges with public transport and bureaucratic hurdles.

Chief Experience Officer Martin Böhm states, "The Unofficial Discipline is a call for change towards a more inclusive world. Our mission isn’t just symbolic; it’s vital for ensuring that people with disabilities can lead lives without unnecessary barriers.”
