ParTec AG Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against NVIDIA
Munich, October 28, 2024 – ParTec AG, alongside its licensing agent BF exaQC AG, has initiated a patent infringement lawsuit against NVIDIA Corporation at the Unified Patent Court in Munich. The dispute centers around alleged violations of ParTec's patents in the use of microprocessors and their operation. ParTec seeks an injunction to halt NVIDIA's distribution of crucial GPU products in certain European markets. Further demands include the disclosure of past sales activities and compensation for damages.
ParTec boasts a robust patent portfolio in supercomputing and microprocessors, with its dynamic Modular System Architecture (dMSA) being a key innovation. The dMSA allows for the intelligent allocation of microprocessors like CPUs and GPUs, and is extensively utilized in Europe's major supercomputers.
ParTec and NVIDIA's discussions since 2019 about potential partnerships have yet to result in joint developments. Nevertheless, both firms have collaborated on supercomputer projects. ParTec's legal actions, including a lawsuit against Microsoft, have affected NVIDIA's business decisions, potentially impacting European competitive dynamics.
