Partners Group Invests in Spain's Gestcompost through Continuation Fund
Partners Group has announced an investment of over EUR 120 million in Gestcompost, Spain's largest organic waste manager, through its infrastructure secondaries business. This Swiss firm will secure two board seats at Gestcompost as part of its significant minority stake acquisition, consolidating its presence in the European circular economy sector.
Gestcompost, founded in 2003, leads in treating various organic wastes, transforming them into biogas and biomethane. The investment comes amidst regulatory changes in Spain, higher landfill costs, and broader energy transition goals. These factors create favorable conditions for Gestcompost to expand its biomethane production.
Partnerships with stakeholders like Suma Capital and Blue Earth Capital are expected to drive growth through strategic initiatives such as operational efficiencies and facility expansion. This investment marks Partners Group's continued interest in the Spanish market, with an eye on sustainable energy solutions.
