Plus Brand Publishes BCC Research Report on Consumer Food and Beverage Waste
Plus Brand recently announced the completion of a groundbreaking report by BCC Research. The report, titled "The Scale of Consumer Packaging Waste and Elevated Health Problems Due to Confusion," surveyed 10,000 American consumers. It aims to quantify the impact of confusion on waste in consumer packaged goods.
The report highlights that 60% of food waste happened at the household level in 2022. Plus Brand's experience with their Agua Plus alkaline water revealed frequent confusion over bottle ownership, prompting the development of All-Scratch!® technology. This solution allows consumers to personalize product labels, reducing confusion and waste.
The survey findings are significant: 59% of respondents experienced confusion, 67% discarded unfinished products, and 77% would choose a product with All-Scratch!® over others. The report indicates that confusion contributes heavily to consumer waste and consumers prefer solutions that mitigate this problem.
The report underscores the potential applications of All-Scratch!® technology beyond home use, including at large events and in packaged meal kits. The data suggests that addressing confusion can align corporate sustainability goals with consumer behavior. Plus Brand aims to partner with global retailers to leverage this technology for greater impact.
