PNE AG Completes Sale of 240 MW Solar Project in South Africa to NOA Group

PNE AG, an internationally renowned project developer, has successfully sold a photovoltaic project with a capacity of 240 MW to NOA Group Ltd, marking a significant advancement in South Africa's renewable energy sector. The Khauta project, set in the Free State province, is anticipated to be fully developed by mid-2024. This region is known for its extensive mining and agricultural activities, highlighting the project's strategic importance in an area with substantial energy demands.

Markus Lesser, CEO of PNE AG, expressed satisfaction with the company's continuous success in international markets, particularly in South Africa. He noted the significance of partnering with NOA, a move seen as pivotal for bolstering clean energy supply in the country. On the other hand, Karel Cornelissen, CEO of NOA, emphasized the Khauta project's transformative potential for the company and its commitment to addressing South Africa's energy supply challenges in partnership with African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM).

Since 2010, PNE AG has been active in South Africa, with its development projects encompassing approximately 4 GW/GWp of wind and PV projects, along with involvement in two green hydrogen projects, highlighting the company's diverse renewable energy portfolio in the region.
