Porsche Launches First Overseas R&D Hub in Shanghai
Porsche has inaugurated its first integrated research and development (R&D) center outside Germany in Shanghai's Hongqiao CBD. This strategic move supports its "In China, for China" approach, aiming to harness local innovation by merging its engineering expertise with China's digital landscape.
The 10,000-square-meter facility opened on November 5, 2025, and unifies Porsche's Technical Division, Engineering China, and Digital China under one roof. With over 300 engineers, the center fosters autonomy and agility to better respond to the evolving demands of Chinese customers.
The hub's inaugural achievement is a next-generation infotainment system exclusive to China, debuting in mid-2026. This advancement illustrates Porsche's blending of German engineering with China's fast-paced innovation ecosystem.
