Porsche and Applied Intuition Forge Strategic Partnership for Automotive Software Development
Porsche AG and Applied Intuition, a Silicon Valley-based vehicle software supplier, have embarked on a strategic partnership aimed at developing automotive software. Announced on March 27, 2024, this collaboration focuses on joint development in various fields of automotive software, aiming to retain software ownership and lessen reliance on black-box suppliers. This partnership is set to simplify processes and quicken implementation, enabling Porsche to leverage expertise in developing, deploying, and updating vehicle software to enhance consumer experiences.
According to Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board Research and Development at Porsche AG, this partnership will bolster Porsche's software know-how, complementing activities within the Volkswagen Group. Software and AI development's complexity necessitates an innovative approach, a gap Applied Intuition aims to fill by integrating and updating various software and AI components, a task traditional automotive development finds challenging.
The collaboration will enable Porsche to apply software best practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, facilitating software deployment and management in future vehicles through an off-board platform. This strategic move is expected to allow Porsche to tailor the software of its future vehicles to specific customer solutions seamlessly, aligning with the company's technology-driven investments.
