Pure Lithium Receives Foundational U.S. Patent for Vertically Integrated Pure Lithium Battery Production
Boston-based Pure Lithium has announced the awarding of a U.S. patent (No. 12,027,691) on July 2, 2024. This patent, invented by Founder, Chairman, and CEO Emilie Bodoin, is focused on vertically integrated pure lithium metal and lithium battery production.
Emilie Bodoin highlights that this patent addresses issues with traditional battery production methods. Pure Lithium's new process seamlessly integrates lithium metal electrode production into battery manufacturing, resulting in significant cost savings and environmental benefits.
Pure Lithium's innovative approach bypasses traditional lithium compound production by using lithium brine. This method avoids the high shipping and handling costs associated with lithium metal, which is traditionally shipped under mineral oil due to its reactivity.
Co-founder and CSO, Professor Donald R. Sadoway, underscores the elegance of combining metal extraction and electrodeposition techniques. This innovation results in a superior lithium metal electrode that enhances battery performance.
