PWO Group Reaches Decarbonization Milestone Ahead of Time
The PWO Group announced that it had achieved its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target ahead of schedule. According to Carlo Lazzarini, CEO, the company has exceeded its own targets for 2030, set in accordance with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), reducing its carbon footprint faster than the 1.5 degree threshold would allow. Based on the 2019 base year, PWO committed to reducing its absolute GHG emissions by 46.2% for scopes 1 and 2, and by 28.0% for scope 3 by 2030. However, seven years before this deadline, the company surpassed these objectives, announcing a reduction of 51.0% for scopes 1 and 2. This success is attributed to a corporate strategy integrating sustainable actions, electrification of all processes, the systematic use of green electricity, the continuous improvement of energy efficiency and the strict implementation of energy savings.
