Pyrum Innovations AG Secures Long-term Carbon Black Supply Agreement with Continental

Pyrum Innovations AG has signed a framework agreement with Continental for the long-term supply of recovered Carbon Black (rCB). Covering at least two Pyrum plants, the agreement spans ten years and includes Continental's supply of end-of-life tires to Pyrum. An advance payment for future rCB deliveries is also part of the deal.

Pyrum CEO Pascal Klein emphasized the importance of this partnership in aiding the series production of car tires with rCB. The collaboration has already resulted in all new forklift tires at Continental's Korbach plant containing Pyrum's rCB.

Jorge Almeida, Head of Sustainability at Continental Tires, noted the significance of recycled raw materials in tire production. He highlighted the shift from "end-of-life" to "end-of-use" concepts, focusing on recycling components back into the production cycle.

Pyrum plans to build a new plant in Perl-Besch by late 2025, doubling its recycling capacity from 20,000 to 40,000 tonnes. Construction is slated to start in October 2024.
