Reputation Leaders Releases Survey: Treating Employees Well Is Crucial
A survey by Reputation Leaders conducted in May 2024 revealed that American employees are frustrated with companies focusing more on profits than on people. The study showed that treating employees well is as vital to a company's reputation as the quality of its products.
The survey of 1,004 American adults found that many companies damage their reputations by not prioritizing employee interests in their communications. Employees seek greater transparency and are demotivated by inconsistent messaging. Treating employees well influences a company’s reputation through word of mouth, affecting 67% of US consumers, compared to 35% influenced by news media.
The influence varies by demographics; more Democrats rely on news stories for reputation insights than Republicans. Social media is less influential overall but holds more sway among people under 40, especially young women who value friends' and family opinions highly.
The survey underscores the importance of valuing employee voices to boost morale and enhance corporate image.
