Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Acquires Rare Olympic Torch Collection
Ripley's Believe It or Not! has announced the acquisition of a nearly complete set of Olympic torches, now one of the world's largest private collections. With 116 torches valued at more than $10 million, the collection has been significantly enhanced by the recent purchase of 45 torches from a private collector.
The collection includes historically significant torches like the 1936 Berlin Games torch, the 1960 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics torch, and the most valuable torch in the collecting world, the 1952 Helsinki Olympics torch.
John Corcoran, Ripley's Director of Exhibits, highlighted that Ripley's collection features authentic Olympic torches that are unmatched by private collectors. It is now only missing the rare 1964 Innsbruck torch, of which only two were originally made.
Ripley plans to showcase this extensive collection, alongside other Olympic and Paralympic items, at its attractions worldwide. This includes a torch signed by Muhammad Ali, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Olympic history.
