ROHM Debuts Ultra-compact Wireless Power Chipset for Wearables

KYOTO, Japan, April 28, 2026 - ROHM Co., Ltd. has announced a new wireless power supply IC chipset, including the receiver (ML7670) and transmitter (ML7671), designed for compact wearables like smart rings and bands. The chipset is compatible with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. This development is timely, given the challenges of wired charging and the limitations of the conventional Qi standard for small devices.

The NFC-based charging operates on the 13.56MHz band and supports antenna miniaturization, positioning it as a viable option for next-generation wearables. The new chipset evolves from its predecessors, featuring 250mW maximum power transfer and built-in components such as switching MOSFETs for power delivery.

Notably, the ML7670 achieves 45% power transfer efficiency in a compact form and eliminates the need for a host MCU due to integrated firmware. The chipset, compliant with NFC Forum (WLC 2.0), is already in mass production and has been integrated into the newly launched SOXAI RING 2 by SOXAI Inc.
