Saint-Gobain Divests Treated Timber Business in UK and Ireland

Saint-Gobain has entered a binding agreement to sell its treated timber products business, encompassing utility poles, fencing, and railway sleepers, to the Iivari Mononen Group. This transaction involves the PDM brand in Ireland and Calders & Grandidge in the UK. These business units, together generating revenues of €50 million in 2023, currently employ 80 individuals.

The sale process has already seen the completion of the PDM divestment, with the expectation to finalize the Calders & Grandidge sale by the end of 2024. This is pending regulatory approvals from competition authorities. This move is part of Saint-Gobain's strategic effort to optimize its business profile, aligning with its “Grow & Impact” plan aimed at sustainable growth and impact.
