Sale of Seattle Reign FC by Eagle Football Group
On June 17, 2024, Eagle Football Group completed the sale of its 97% stake in American franchise Seattle Reign FC to a group including the Seattle Sounders and Carlyle, a global investment company. The transaction amounts to 58 million dollars, or approximately 54 million euros.
This sale follows an agreement signed on March 18, approved by the NWSL and MLS Board of Directors. The operation is part of the strategy of refocusing on men's football announced by Eagle Football Group on October 25.
The sale will allow Eagle Football Group to realize a capital gain for the 2023/2024 financial year, after deduction of the advances made and the cumulative results since the acquisition in January 2020.
