Schindler Secures Bogotá Metro Contract

Schindler has been chosen as the sole provider for elevators and escalators for Bogotá’s first elevated railway system. Line 1 of the Bogotá Metro will span 16 elevated stations across 23.9 kilometers, aiming to transport over a million passengers daily by 2028. This line marks Bogotá's inaugural venture into metro systems, promising enhanced mobility and reduced congestion.

The system will integrate with the city's existing Bus Rapid Transit network at ten stations. Schindler's involvement includes high-performance, mid-rise elevators and heavy-duty escalators tailored for public transport needs. Accessibility is prioritized with features for people with reduced mobility.

Connected to Schindler's Technical Operations Center, these installations will benefit from 24/7 remote monitoring and real-time updates. The use of Building Information Modelling and RAMS analysis ensures project precision and high standards. The line's construction, initiated in 2020, is set for 2028 completion.
