Schletter to Equip 130 MWp Solar Project in Dominican Republic
Schletter Group has announced its involvement in a significant solar energy project in the Dominican Republic. This project, being developed by SEMI, will see the installation of a 130 MWp ground-mounted system. Schletter, a leading global manufacturer of photovoltaic mounting solutions, is set to provide the necessary mounting systems. This endeavor further consolidates Schletter's presence in the Caribbean, where it has already contributed over 700 MWp of clean energy capacity.
The forthcoming "Coastal Solar" Project by SEMI positions near San Pedro de Macoris. It is planned to include 255,540 modules on 5,370 racks. Schletter's contribution involves their FS Duo System, engineered to endure the region's harsh weather, including high winds up to 257 km/h. This system's design caters to the quick installation and resilience required in the hurricane-prone Caribbean.
Additionally, the project had to adapt to the local geology, opting for concrete foundations with "micropiles" to better manage tensile and shearing forces. Precision in the installation is achieved through GPS measurements and support bolting, allowing for exact alignment of PV units.
Since 2011, Schletter Group has been active in the Dominican Republic, implementing numerous ground-mounted solar systems. Noteworthy projects include Monte Plata, Monte Cristi, Santanasol, and the AERODOM airports. In 2023, Schletter also commenced operations of the largest PV tracking system in the Caribbean, located in Cumayasa, generating 97 MWp of clean energy.
