Schuler and BSN Innovate with Compact Rotary Furnace

BSN Thermprozesstechnik and Schuler have introduced a new compact rotary furnace (CRF) system aimed at optimizing space and energy efficiency in hot stamping processes. The traditional roller hearth furnaces, extending up to 45 meters, are being reimagined with this innovative solution that only requires a length of 14 meters. This new system significantly reduces the required space to about a quarter of its conventional counterparts.

The CRF's design includes a loading and centering unit, and it can operate using electricity or gas, offering potential energy savings of approximately 1,200 MWh per year. Additionally, the system can be paired with Schuler's Pressure Controlled Hardening (PCH) technology to enhance cooling times and forming tolerances.

Schuler will showcase the CRF system's advantages for competitive production at the PMA's Hot Stamping Experience & Tech Tour in Charleston, South Carolina, scheduled for November 20-21, 2024.
