Seegene Introduces New Testing for Reproductive Tract Infections
Seegene Inc., a South Korean molecular diagnostics firm, has unveiled a comprehensive testing method for reproductive tract infections (RTIs), focusing on diagnosing both sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and human papillomavirus (HPV) concurrently. Announced alongside the launch of their Global Million Clinical Study (GMCS), this approach aims to establish new global standards for PCR testing by providing critical diagnostic data.
The company's internal analysis of 60,000 test results revealed notable findings: STI pathogens appeared in 82% of HPV-positive cases. Additionally, 71% of cases detected both HPV and STI pathogens. Such data underscores the necessity of a comprehensive testing strategy, particularly in understanding co-infections and asymptomatic cases.
Seegene's initiative also emphasizes the relevance of this approach in clinical scenarios like pregnancy planning and infertility assessments, further supported by their STAgora™ data analytics platform. The company plans to share its findings at an upcoming medical conference in California.
