Sensirion Achieves EN17526 Certificate for Commercial and Industrial Gas Meter Modules

Sensirion's gas meter modules for commercial and industrial use, the SGM6316 and SGM6325, have recently obtained the EN17526 evaluation certificate. These modules, designed for G10/G16 and G25 flow ranges, expand upon the company's success with residential gas meters since autumn 2023. This certification simplifies and accelerates the MID certification process for gas meter manufacturers utilizing Sensirion’s modules, promising risk reduction, time savings, and cost cuts.

The EN 17526 standard, notable for being the first to cover thermal-mass measuring principles for both residential and larger scale gas meters up to G100, embraces renewable gases like hydrogen and biomethane. This marks a significant step in the standardization of gas meters, aligning with the regulations and enhancing the reliability and accuracy of gas meter technology under varying conditions. Additionally, the standard is set to influence the development of national gas metering standards globally.

With over 8.5 million units installed in the past 15 years, Sensirion’s thermal-mass gas meters have proven their market lead in terms of accuracy, reliability, and versatility towards different gas mixtures. The EN 17526 certification not only solidifies Sensirion's standing in the gas meter market but also supports the transition to a multi-gas future, accommodating the integration of renewable energy sources into existing infrastructure.
