Seventh and Eighth O3b mPOWER Satellites Launch Connectivity Services
Luxembourg, 3 June 2025 – SES has announced that its latest pair of O3b mPOWER satellites, launched in December 2024, are now operational globally. This marks a significant enhancement of the O3b mPOWER network, targeting various market segments with improved connectivity.
The new satellites feature redesigned payload power modules, boosting the capabilities of SES's second-generation medium earth orbit system. As of now, SES has deployed eight out of a planned 13 satellites. The next launch is anticipated in summer 2025.
Moreover, SES has increased its network of satellite ground stations to 12 globally, including partnerships with Microsoft's Azure data centers. SES aims to triple its network capacity by 2027 to better serve its diverse clientele, including government and cloud services.
