SGS Introduces Green Mark to Simplify Green Claim Verification

SGS, a leader in testing, inspection, and certification, has launched the SGS Green Mark to help brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers meet the increasing consumer demand for sustainable products. The initiative aims to combat greenwashing by providing independent third-party verification of environmental claims.

The SGS Green Mark covers seven environmental attributes, making it a comprehensive certification scheme. These attributes include assessing hazardous substances, recycled content, PFAS, biobased materials, PVC-free products, industrial compostability, and biodegradability.

As global governments increase their scrutiny of green claims, many companies are turning to SGS to verify their environmental actions. The SGS Green Mark ensures compliance with rigorous standards, allowing companies to display a traceable mark and providing consumers with detailed verification via a QR code.

A range of companies, especially in the electronics and textile sectors, have already adopted the SGS Green Mark. Charles Ly Wa Hoi, Executive Vice President of SGS, expressed confidence that this mark will become a leading solution for sustainable practices globally.
