SIMONA 2023: Solid Earnings Amid Challenging Economic Conditions
SIMONA Aktiengesellschaft reported a mixed financial outcome for 2023, showcasing resilient profitability despite a notable drop in sales volume and revenue. The global economic slowdown led to a 15.7% decrease in group revenue, amounting to €600.0 million, falling short of the forecasted €610-630 million. Nonetheless, EBIT neared the record level of the previous year, reaching €52.9 million compared to €54.1 million in 2022.
Regionally, revenue declines were seen across all markets. The EMEA region experienced the highest revenue drop of 19.2%, totaling €369.3 million. In contrast, the Americas saw a 13.4% decline, while the Asia-Pacific region posted a 6.9% revenue increase, boosted by strong performances in China and India.
By business line, the Mobility segment was the only area to record growth, with a 10.3% increase largely fueled by the aviation sector. Conversely, the Industry and Infrastructure sectors saw declines of 14.5% and 15.8%, respectively. Despite these downturns, SIMONA maintains an optimistic outlook for 2024, projecting revenues between €620 million and €640 million with stable profitability expectations.
In sustainability efforts, the company advanced its strategy under the "EcoPlastIQ" brand, focusing on bio-based and recycled materials, and aims to meet substantial CO2 reduction targets in the coming years.
