South Pacific Metals Reports Exceptional Surface Trenching Results at Osena Gold-Copper Project

South Pacific Metals Corp. (TSXV:SPMC)(FSE:6J00) has announced promising assay results from its Osena Gold-Copper Project in Papua New Guinea. Highlighting the initial results, Trench 1 returned peak values of 8.82 g/t Au among other notable elemental content. The 79-meter trench showed mineralization across its entire length, averaging 0.75 g/t Au, 981 ppm Cu, 1.73 g/t Ag, and 1877 ppm Zn.

Additional significant findings included 16 meters averaging 1.25 g/t Au, 0.15% Cu, and 0.18% Zn, with a standout 4-meter section averaging 4.52 g/t Au, 0.13% Cu, and 0.23% Zn. The Ontenu Prospect confirms a large-scale gold-copper porphyry system, supported by the region's soil and rock assays showing up to 2.69 g/t Au and 71.3 g/t Ag.

The Ontenu findings suggest extensive untapped potential, with Cathy Fitzgerald, President and Chief Geologist, noting the prospect's importance and planned comprehensive reviews of historical and new data to further characterize the system and identify additional exploration targets.
