South Star Battery Metals Announces Successful Metallurgical Results for BamaStar Graphite Project
South Star Battery Metals Corp. has announced successful metallurgical results from its BamaStar Graphite Project in Alabama. These results showed that representative samples of oxide, transition, and fresh rock had grades ranging from 2.36% to 3.04% Cg. Bond abrasion and work index testing revealed low to medium abrasion and low energy requirements. Open circuit flotation tests produced excellent concentrate grades between 94.4% and 99.5% Cg, with high graphite recoveries ranging from 87.5% to 91.5%.
The next development phase involves optimizing mining pit design to prioritize processing oxide and transitional material, potentially reducing initial CAPEX and OPEX. The company plans to release the NI43-101 Preliminary Economic Assessment results for BamaStar in August 2024.
These results support the upcoming NI43-101 PEA study and could enhance the project's economics. The ongoing feasibility study aims to optimize the flowsheet and improve the achieved metrics, potentially opening value-add markets for the graphite resource at BamaStar.
