Southern Energy Corp. Advances Gwinville Project and Addresses Dispute

Southern Energy Corp., a natural gas and light oil producer in Mississippi, announced progress in completing its first Gwinville drilled and uncompleted (DUC) well. Final procurement of key services has been achieved, with field operations set to commence soon on the 13-13 #2 Lower Selma Chalk horizontal well. Initial production is projected for June 2025. This marks the first of three DUC completions planned at Gwinville.

Meanwhile, Southern is engaged in a dispute over alleged excessive transportation fees by a third-party midstream company concerning the Mechanicsburg and Green's Creek fields. On April 29, 2025, Southern received confirmation that the pipelines are regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The company is working closely with FERC to determine fair rates and continues dialogue with the pipeline operator. To minimize disputed fees, Southern has temporarily shut-in about 400 boepd, roughly 20% of its production volume, affecting only 10% of its operating income.
