St. Vincent De Paul College Prep Announces New Lease, Long-Term Funding, and New Principal
St. Vincent de Paul College Prep (SV), a 106-year-old high school serving North Bay and Marin County, has entered a long-term lease with the parish and diocese, marking a fresh start. Located in Petaluma, the school serves students from the North Bay, with 40% from Marin County. This lease is welcomed by students, parents, and the community.
"Being an independent Catholic school brings us more opportunity," says Lisa Lichty, board member. The new board-led model allows the school to be creative and responsive, safeguarding traditions and nurturing students.
Fundraising efforts have secured new funding, supporting management and financial needs. The transition to an independent school model has brought strong community support and sizable donations, highlighting the community's passion for the school's value.
Mike Casper will begin as the new principal on July 1. With a background in education and administration in Marin County, Casper aims to continue the school's growth. He credits the board and alumni for their support, noting increasing student registration.
Student Jack Ellis, a member of SV's 2023 state champion football team, expresses excitement for the future, emphasizing the support he has received at the school.
As an independent Catholic school approved by the Diocese of Santa Rosa, SV remains committed to providing a faith-based education. The partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School and the celebration of mass will continue.
