Startup Genome and Tokyo Government Launch Global Hypergrowth Tokyo for Late-Stage Scaleups

Startup Genome, in partnership with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, has unveiled the launch of Global Hypergrowth Tokyo, a pioneering initiative aimed at supporting late-stage scaleups. The announcement, made on March 26th, 2024, marks the commencement of the program's first cohort. This global scaling program is tailored to foster the growth of Tokyo's most promising tech companies, facilitating their expansion into international markets.

The Hypergrowth program targets high-growth startups, recognizing their potential to drive economic growth, enhance competitiveness, and generate sustainable employment opportunities. By acknowledging the unique challenges faced by scaleups during global expansion, the program offers comprehensive support. This includes access to global mentorship, expert scaling advice, and connections to potential customers and investors, aiming to bridge the gap in support that exists beyond the early startup stages.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government's collaboration with Startup Genome aligns with its broader ambition to amplify Tokyo's startup ecosystem, with targets to exponentially increase the number of unicorns, startups, and collaborative projects within five years. Chieto Misumi of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government highlights the program's role in internationalizing Tokyo startups, facilitating their entry and growth in markets such as the U.S. and Europe.

The inaugural cohort features a diverse group of companies specializing in deep tech, healthtech, AI, and more. Collectively, these companies have raised approximately 100 million USD and are poised for international venture.
