Steeltec AG Concludes Consultation Process with Reduced Redundancies
On January 14, 2025, Steeltec AG, part of Swiss Steel Group, concluded its consultation process at the Emmenbrücke site. Initially, 130 positions were set to be reduced, with anticipated redundancies numbering approximately 80 employees. Through effective collaboration with the employee committee and social partners, this number has been lowered to a maximum of 50, aided by measures like natural attrition and organizational adjustments.
The consultation, begun in mid-November 2024, aimed to address economic challenges and secure a sustainable future. The political decision to temporarily reduce grid charges for the steel and aluminum sectors was also discussed during the process. The personnel changes are to be implemented in the first quarter of 2025, with confidence in strengthening the site long-term.
