Stephan Leithner Appointed as CEO of Deutsche Börse AG
Deutsche Börse AG announced on March 8, 2024, the appointment of Stephan Leithner as its new Chief Executive Officer. Leithner, 57, will assume the role for a five-year term starting October 1, 2024. This strategic decision was made by the company's Supervisory Board.
During the transition period from October 1 to December 31, 2024, Leithner and the current CEO, Theodor Weimer, will both serve as Co-CEO. This arrangement aims to facilitate a smooth transition of leadership within the Executive Board. Until the commencement of his role as CEO, Leithner has been named Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, effective immediately.
Leithner, who has been a notable member of the Executive Board since 2018, currently oversees the "Pre- and Post Trading" division. His responsibilities encapsulate managing the Clearstream business and developing the "Investment Management Solutions" segment.
The appointment follows the announcement of Theodor Weimer's departure due to the conclusion of his service contract at the end of 2024. Weimer will be 65 years old at that time.
