STMicroelectronics: Industrial Remodeling and Cost Optimization
STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor company, has unveiled an ambitious plan to reshape its manufacturing footprint and optimize its cost base. This plan includes significant investments in advanced manufacturing infrastructure, including 300 mm silicon and 200 mm silicon carbide, for the years 2025 to 2027. These efforts are aimed at strengthening ST's competitiveness and accelerating innovation in Europe.
This project could result in the voluntary reduction of 2,800 positions worldwide, in addition to normal attrition. Expected annual savings are expected to reach triple-digit millions of dollars by the end of 2027. Jean-Marc Chéry, President and CEO, emphasizes that this remodeling will strengthen the integrated manufacturing model in Europe.
European sites such as Crolles and Agrate will be strengthened, with planned capacity increases, while Catania will continue its role as a center of excellence for power semiconductors.
