STMicroelectronics Introduces Silicon Carbide Power Technology for Electric Vehicles
STMicroelectronics, a leading semiconductor company, today announced a new generation of STPOWER silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs. These devices improve energy efficiency, power density and robustness, particularly for traction inverters in electric vehicles.
The new MOSFETs, available in 750 V and 1200 V categories, will offer significant advantages for mid-size and compact electric vehicles. Volume production will increase through 2025. Further SiC innovations are planned through 2027.
ST continues its vertically integrated manufacturing strategy, ensuring a robust supply chain and driving technological advances. The company aims to support the transition to greater efficiency in industrial and automotive applications.
