Student Talent Survey 2024: Generation Z Motivated and Ready to Perform
Universum data challenges the stereotypical notion of a less ambitious Generation Z. They show high motivation and performance expectations. The survey noted a growing importance of working from home with age. Female students, however, expect starting salaries significantly lower than their male counterparts, highlighting a persistent gender pay disparity.
Performance aspects such as diverse tasks and recognition are critical to young talent. The preference for work-life balance increases with age. Younger individuals (16-25) prioritize variety in assignments, while older groups show more interest in work-life balance.
The automotive companies, notably Porsche and BMW Group, are gaining attractiveness among students. In engineering, the BMW Group moved up three ranks to second place, while Porsche remains a top contender across fields.
Women’s salary expectations are 18% below those of men, yet gender pay equality remains very important to them. Companies perceived as aligning well with values important to students, like Porsche and BMW Group, have a competitive edge in attracting young talent.
