SumUp Outlines Initiatives to Avoid Burnout When Working at a Start-Up
Felizitas Lichtenberg, Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion at SumUp, recently outlined steps to minimize burnout risks as employees return to the office. A Mercer report indicated that 82% of employees face burnout risks in 2024.
This issue is prevalent in start-ups due to their fast-paced environments and heavy workloads. Lichtenberg suggests establishing clear boundaries with supervisors and teams to manage personal time effectively. This can include scheduling time for activities like workouts during lunch breaks.
She also advocates for prioritizing tasks to maintain focus and reduce stress. Regular breaks during the workday are recommended to enhance productivity and mental well-being.
Building a strong support network, including colleagues and family, is essential. Many start-ups offer therapy support, which can be a valuable resource.
Incorporating stress-relief activities such as mindfulness exercises and hobbies can further improve overall mental health. Employers must educate and support employees to prevent burnout.
