SYNLawn Debuts Green Fan Mile to Celebrate EURO 2024
SYNLawn, a global leader in sustainable artificial turf, has created the largest soccer fan zone in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The green Fan Mile celebrates the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship. From now until July 14, fans will gather to watch publicly televised games on SYNLawn's artificial turf.
Wolfgang Beck, Business Unit Manager of SYNLawn Europe, expressed their excitement about the project. The Fan Mile features 24,000 square meters of synthetic grass laid in key locations like Straße des 17. Juni and Platz der Republik. This installation is unique in both size and media attention.
The turf will be repurposed post-championship for use in daycare centers, kindergartens, and schools in Berlin. Made from bio-based materials and recycled plastic, the initiative aligns with both UEFA's and Berlin's sustainability goals.
SYNLawn and its sister company Polytan designed this turf to withstand high loads and provide a realistic soccer field experience. The installation process included special logistical measures to ensure accessibility for wheelchairs and strollers.
The project showcases SYNLawn's innovative and sustainable turf solutions. George Neagle, President of SYNLawn Global, highlighted their success in combining functionality with sustainability, setting a high bar for future projects.
